Objectives:

  • - Define falls based on current literature and clinical standards
  • - Define profiles of patients who commonly fall
  • - Identify best practices in fall prevention
  • - Educate participants on factors leading to the litigation of falls
  • - Educate participants on when to contact outside counsel with regards to fall
  • - Educate participants to the responsibility of reporting falls to institutions such as the Joint Commission and/or state reporting agencies.
  • - Educate participants on duties required for falls that are declared Sentinel and/or Never Events (CMS and NQF)
  • - Define post-fall documentation requirements
