Keynote Speaker:    Medical Ethics

• Dr. Kelly Armstrong, PhD will discuss decisional capacity and its foundational premise in both ethics and law.

HIPAA, Privacy, and Common Problems in Business Associate Agreements.

• An overview of the New HIPAA and Privacy regulations, including a review of specific impact to risk management and claims attorneys and common problem areas in business associate agreements.

Issues in Insurance

• This session will explore important insurance considerations and conflicts that arise in the context of medical malpractice cases.

Compliance Issues – Updates on MMSEA Reporting and Enforcement Actions and NPDB Reporting

• Review of MMSEA reporting updates and enforcement actions and discussion of National Practitioner Data Bank reporting guidelines, including issues that arise when doctors settle out of matters broughtagainst the hospital and its employed physician.
